Rep. Shawn Thierry Assumes Her Final Form: Trump Shill
Texas Rep. Shawn Thierry, a former Democrat who is currently looking for attention, has endorsed Donald Trump in next month’s presidential election.
This is no surprise if you’ve followed Thierry’s sad arc over the last few months. But it’s still a reminder that some people, politicians especially, have absolutely no intrinsic values.
In a recent post on X, Thierry posted a Trump-hat selfie and outlined all the reasons why she’s endorsing an open racist. Spoiler: It’s once again about her being shitty to trans kids. Two of Thierry’s four reasons were just right-wing, transphobic talking points, including “saving women’s sports.”
“I want this generation to have the benefit of America’s promise of peace, prosperity, and freedom,” she wrote. “I also think it’s cool to be patriotic. That’s what Making America Great Again means to me.”
Uh huh. Left unsaid was that, just a few months ago, Thierry was a Democrat. A terrible Democrat, but still!
A few months ago, Thierry announced that she was changing parties because “the left has abandoned Democrats who feel betrayed by a party that has lost its way, lost its commitment to hard working families.”
(The real answer is that Thierry was mad at people for being mad at her about her terrible and damaging anti-trans — and anti-child — stances.)
Actual Democrats weren’t fooled, and they overwhelmingly supported her opponent in a March primary. Which is why we have All-New MAGA Shawn Thierry, who is now the director of political strategy for an anti-trans policy group.
