Y’all, It Sounds Like This Texas Dog Solved a Murder
Y’all, I think a Texas dog named Titan just solved a murder.
The McLennan County District Attorney’s Office announced last week that a white labradoodle held the “keys” to the case after a woman was killed in Robinson, near Waco.
On April 5, 2023, police in Robinson responded to what they thought was a brush fire but turned out to be a burning body inside a plastic container. Titan barked “frantically at officers and refused to leave the area,” according to a press release.
Titan ran off before police could grab him, but the next morning, he came back to the same location where his owner was found. Once authorities scanned his microchip, they identified the victim as 26-year-old Mandy Rose Reynolds, from San Marcos.
“The keys to this case were a heroic and loyal dog named Titan and extraordinary cooperation between law enforcement agencies in multiple jurisdictions and states,” said officials. “That combination has delivered justice for Mandy and safety from a violent and dangerous criminal.”
Three days after police found Reynolds’ body, her car was tracked to Wichita, Kansas, according to the San Antonio Express-News. The driver led police on a chase before crashing into another car and running inside a grocery store, where he hid behind some canned goods, reported the newspaper.
The man, 29-year-old Derek Daigneault, was Reynolds’ cousin, said police.
Last month, Daigneault was sentenced to life in prison in Reynolds’ murder.
