In a Cruel Twist of Fate, Victor Wembanyama Is Out for the Season
What is this cruel, cruel world that Texas basketball fans are living in? First it was Dallas Maverick’s savior Luka Dončić — gone from the team in an absolute bullsh!t trade. Now San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is out for the rest of the season due to deep vein thrombosis, which is the official name for blood clots.
The team put out a statement Thursday afternoon that said doctors first diagnosed him with blood clots in his right shoulder after last weekend’s All-Star Game in San Francisco.

Deep vein thrombosis is typically treated with blood-thinners, which sidelines players from contact sports, but a team source told ESPN that they’re hopeful that Wemby will fully recover and be back in time for next season. Still, there’s no guarantee.
For now, Spurs fans can join the Mavs fans in sadness and uncertainty.
But hey, at least opening day for Major League Baseball is March 27. 😫
